Organization Description: Food For Thought (FFT) is a nonprofit that provides comprehensive nutrition services to people in Sonoma County affected by serious medical conditions. Our services include weekly groceries, congregate meals, vitamins and supplements, and nutrition education. We are located in Forestville in a beautiful building surrounded by organic gardens. FFT operates with a staff of 25 and 800 volunteers. Food For Thought is hiring a bilingual Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to support clients in our Medi-Cal sponsored nutrition program. This is an opportunity to coach underserved/under-resourced clients and give them the foods they need to succeed at making dietary changes.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to meet clients where they are without judgment, be a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with solid clinical skills, be open to learning new things, be detail-oriented, and be able to work with and supervise volunteers. New or recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:
 Working with clients who need medically tailored meals and/or groceries due to serious medical conditions
 Conducting intakes and providing medical nutrition therapy to new clients
 Following up with existing clients to ensure their needs are being met and troubleshooting issues as they arise including monitoring and evaluating MNT goals and plans
 Providing nutrition education and ongoing coaching to clients in the program
 Promoting the program to healthcare referrers and potential clients
 Recruiting new clients and helping them through the referral and enrollment process
 Reviewing medical records and submitting treatment authorization requests to Partnership Health Plan
 Following up on prior authorizations and referrals to obtain needed documents
 Menu planning as needed
 Coaching for dietetic and dietetic technician interns
 Working with the Dietetic Technician (DTR) and Client Services and Nutrition Director to plan nutrition coaching and specific menus based on medical needs

Qualifications:
 Registered Dietitian – nutritional certification by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
 Fluent in English and Spanish – Ability to speak, read, and write with proficiency in both languages
 Passion for Food For Thought’s Mission
 Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and familiarity with using databases
 Detail oriented and extremely organized
 COVID-19 vaccination and at least one booster (medical/religious exemptions accepted with proper paperwork)

Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time nonexempt position with a starting salary range of $35-$40 per hour depending on experience.
The position included employer-paid medical, dental, and vision.
Food For Thought provides a 403b retirement account with a 5% employer-paid contribution.
Approximately 13 paid holidays per year as well as sick and vacation time.
