Participants will be able to:
1. Understand the physiology of the Gut-Brain Axis and potential ways to modify gut brain signaling
2. Describe the pathophysiology of intestinal permeability
3. Identify therapeutic diets for common digestive disorders, such as IBS, SIBO, IBD, Celiac Disease, Gastroparesis, C. Diff, and GERD
4. Evaluate different supplements taken by GI patients for symptom relief
Speaker Bio: Niki Strealy, RDN, LD, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist at Strategic Nutrition, LLC
Niki Strealy (Pronounced STRAY-LEE), RDN, LD, received her bachelor’s degree in nutrition and food management from Oregon State University and completed a dietetic internship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She Has been a registered dietitian since 1996. In 2000, the Oregon Dietetic Association named her the “Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year.” She self-published her first book “The Diarrhea Dietitian: Expert Advice, Practical Solutions, and Strategic Nutrition” in 2013.
Niki is the owner of Strategic Nutrition, LLC, a private practice focused on counseling patients with gastrointestinal diseases and disorders. She also consults for the Providence Sports Medicine program and is a telehealth dietitian for ModifyHealth.
She lives in Lake Oswego, Oregon with her husband, three kids, and flock of chickens. She enjoys running, playing soccer, camping, gardening, and relaxing in the sunshine.
