Job Description: Assists the Clinical Dietitian in assessing patient’s nutritional needs and providing nutrition education. Performs calorie counts, corrects menus and checks assembled meal trays for accuracy and quality standards
Key Responsibilities:
*Screens nutrition status of assigned patients, assists in development of care plans for identified problems, monitors patient responsiveness to care plans.
*Plans in-between meal nourishments for patients on assigned service as needed.
*Communicates any nutritional problems beyond his/her scope/practice to the Clinical Dietitian.
*Assists in monitoring compliance with quality assurance standards in related field of expertise.
*Calculates calorie and protein intake and documents the results in the patients’ medical records.
*Provides nutrition education to patient and significant others on modified diets and food and drug interactions.
*Contacts room service operators and associates with diet order information.
*Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reviewing current literature, attending inservice meetings, and workshops.
*Participates in and promotes teamwork with the multidisciplinary team on a daily basis.
*Interacts, establishes cooperative working relationships, and communicates effectively with co-workers.
*Follows customer friendly guidelines in meeting customer needs.
*Follows established City of Hope and department policies, procedures, objectives, performance improvement, attendance, safety, environmental, and infection control guidelines.
*Practices a high level of integrity and honesty in maintaining confidentiality.
*Demonstrates proper and safe use of equipment.
*Assists in training as required.
*Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
Minimum Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nutrition or related field.
Minimum Experience:
One year of related experience preferred.
Required Certification/Licensure:
Dietetic Technician Registered status.
