Background

The CA Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics invites eligible members to apply for a CA Academy or Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics award. These awards honor members for their significant leadership and contributions to both the profession and the CA Academy. The CA Academy Awards Committee will review the applications to ensure that all applicants meet the awards selection criteria. Award applications open November 17, 2025 and close on January 9, 2026

Award applications open November 17, 2025 and close on December 20, 2025.

Awards Submission Instructions

The FY25-26 CA Academy Awards Application is now open! Please review the Awards Applicant Selection Criteria Packet for descriptions of each award and eligibility criteria. The deadline to submit the awards application is January 9, 2026 at 5 pm Pacific Standard Time (PST).

All awards, unless otherwise denoted, require the applicant to be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics at the time the award application is submitted and when receiving an award.

All award applicants must submit the following:

• The CA Academy Awards Application form
• Resume or curriculum vitae (CV). Note, this is NOT required for Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year, Recognized Dietetic Technician of the Year, Emerging Dietetic Leader, Outstanding Dietetics Student, Meritorious Service, or Friends of the California Academy award.
• One-page narrative describing how you meet the award criteria (up to 3 pages is allowed for the Dolores Nyhus Memorial award). Use the selection criteria provided in the packet to craft your narrative. Use one-inch margins and the font size should be no smaller than 11-point font. Note, this is NOT required for Meritorious Service or Friends of the California Academy award.
• One letter of recommendation. Two letters are required for the Dolores Nyhus Memorial award. All recommendation letters must use the CA Academy Recommendation letter template. No other recommendation letters will be accepted. Note, this is NOT required for Meritorious Service or Friends of the California Academy award.
• Headshot in jpg or png format.

For applicants who are applying for the same award in a consecutive year, you may reuse the same letters of recommendation that you previously submitted.

Award Submission

All applicants must complete the CA Academy Award Application Form by January 9, 2026 at 5 pm Pacific Standard Time (PST). Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.

Awards Selection Process

The CA Academy Awards Committee will review all applications and will notify applicants if they receive an award no later than February 24, 2025.

Awards Presentation

Awards will be presented virtually at the California Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Annual Conference (CANDAC) Awards Ceremony, April 17-18, 2026.
